The Lake

The 80-acre Rockwell Lake is 43 feet deep with water clarity to 14 feet and is full of pan fish, large & small mouth bass, walleye and northern pike. Otters, beaver and nesting loons call this lake home. There is no public access to this lake.
The Grounds
The 206-acre property is a compilation of three parcels and a certified survey is provided. The “Plantation” of 60 mol acres of maturing Norway pines have been maintained and periodically thinned to promote even growth with a view to the harvest of dimensional lumber. An environmental wetland is present as well as many groves of native trees. Walking paths reveal pristine nature preserves full of deer and other animals, birds, and an occasional bear to make it interesting. The lake and buildings cannot be seen from the county road. A wooded half-mile lane opens onto the promontory where they are located providing privacy and safety. The property is an “American Forest Pioneer Certified Tree Farm”.
The House
Built in the early 1900s as a small log farmhouse and expanded in the 1930s, the principal dwelling has two bedrooms, two baths, a dormitory loft, and two large stonework fireplaces crafted in the masonry style of the WPA era. A large wooden deck looks to the west lakeshore. Access to the deck from the house is from the main level.
The Cabin
Built in 1920 of huge, hand-hewn logs, this structure is a prize example of its kind. Located on the point of the promontory, the cabin has a great room with a large stone fireplace, one bedroom and a bath. A great room shares its space with a small kitchen. The original lead-paned windows look out to the surrounding lake. French doors open onto a small stone porch.
The Shed
Constructed in the 1930s, this substantial building is made of square logs and mortar. It has served as a storage facility for large equipment and boats.
